- 1. Understand key aspects of the latest advances in the pathophysiology, risk factors, and diagnosis of PE
- 2. Risk stratify patients into low-risk, submassive, and massive PE categories to better identify populations that are high risk for morbidity and mortality from their PE
- 3. Manage patients with both low-risk and high-risk PE with a variety of treatment options, including anticoagulation, medical and interventional lysis strategies, and surgical therapies
- 4. Describe the epidemiology, classification and pathophysiology of pulmonary hypertension.
- 5. Determine who is at risk for pulmonary hypertension and effectively diagnose patients
- 6. Recognize the difference between PAH and PVH and how this translates into therapy.
- 7. Outline the current approach to pulmonary hypertension treatment in the presence of related or underlying diseases.
- 8. Incorporate novel therapies into patient care for improved outcomes.
- 9. Identify when to refer patients for specialty treatment.
