Sonia Rebeles, MD, FACOG, is fellowship trained and specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
Dr. Rebeles began her educational career at Stanford University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in human biology. She then moved to Texas to continue her postgraduate education, pursuing her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She then completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. During her residency, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists awarded Dr. Rebeles the Honorary Resident and Best Laparoscopic Surgeon awards. To further specialize her knowledge to help her patients, Dr. Rebeles completed fellowship training in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) at the UW Medical Center – Northwest in Seattle, Washington.
Dr. Rebeles’s passion for her specialty has led her to teach and mentor other physicians in the fundamentals of MIGS throughout her career. She is an expert in her field with enhanced knowledge of pelvic anatomy and disease by means of laparoscopic, robotic, open, and vaginal surgery. She has also refined her training in traditional laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgical techniques using some of the earliest platforms of robot-assisted surgery.
In October 2022, Dr. Rebeles earned the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s Focused Practice Designation in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. This designation recognizes physicians who have additional surgical expertise and dedicate a significant percentage of their practice to the care of women with benign and complex gynecologic diseases and manage complications using minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Dr. Rebeles earned the Top Hispanic & Latino Doctors distinction in the nation by Castle Connolly Top Doctors in 2023-2024. This award recognizes excellent physicians bridging the healthcare gaps for the Hispanic and Latino communities. This is also significant because it celebrates the successes of Hispanic and Latino physicians who are breaking barriers by being part of the 6% of physicians who are Hispanic and Latino. She also earned the Top LGBTQ+ Doctors distinction in 2024 by Castle Connolly.
Her bilingual skills in English and Spanish allow her to serve a broader range of patients, especially in the Central Valley.
