Raj Amin, MD, is proudly from Fresno. He is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon from Johns Hopkins and Stanford University Hospital specializing in the treatment of hip and knee arthritis. Dr. Amin’s goal is to understand the needs of each patient to keep them active and healthy. He performs minimally invasive, robotic, partial, and total hip and knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Amin received his Bachelors of Science in Human Biology and minor in Bioethics with Honors from Michigan State University. As a part of the Medical Scholars Program, he attended the College of Human Medicine where he received his doctor of medicine. During medical school Dr. Amin received the Smookler, Folding and Kareti scholarships, and was also inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Society.
Dr. Amin then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital. During residency, he received numerous awards including the Byank Service Leadership Award and Resident Researcher of the Year. He published more than 35 peer-reviewed journal articles and served as President of the House Staff Council and Administrative Chief Resident.
Following residency, Dr. Amin was selected for the Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at Stanford University Hospital where he trained with experts in the latest joint reconstruction techniques, including complex revision surgery.
Dr. Amin is very involved in the academic community. He has extensively published research articles and textbook chapters. He has also presented award-winning research at international conferences and volunteered internationally to help provide total joint replacement surgery for underserved patients.
As a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, Dr. Amin ensures he stays on top of the latest information and treatment options for his patients.
When Dr. Amin is not in the office caring for patients or teaching resident physicians through UCSF School of Medicine, Fresno Regional Campus, you can usually find him enjoying cars, spending time with friends and family, watching sports, playing basketball, or working in the yard.
